Season of Creation

September 1 - October 4

This period spans from the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation (September 1) through the Feast of St. Francis (October 4). Christian communities are encouraged to particularly focus on creation care and plan events during this time.

Earth Day

April 22

This annual secular event focusing on protection of the environment was first held in 1970.

Feast of St. Francis

October 4

The feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the environment, is a great time to focus on creation care and is a traditional day to offer a blessing of animals.
